Saviour of My Soul (My Love Poem)
SAVIOUR OF MY SOUL
You’ve flooded my barren soul
With your overflowing beauty
To me the spring of life
Had never come but as autumn,
What was I but a dry, yellow, fallen leaf
And fate relished the sound of crunching
Which it’s wayward feet produced
I had long bid farewell to hope
Whose face to me was always veiled
Never clearly revealed.
Accepting all as inevitable
Inescapable, infinitely so,
I had been wooing pain.
And found a loyal spouse in him;
I loved pain and pain loved me
So I hoped – to get despair in return,
And loved - to get loathed,
But you’ve revived this wretch!
Your love has challenged my pain to a duel.
You’ve won, I bet
How will I ever forget
The first kiss you gave me,
Lips to lips were fast bonded
In that moment one and infinite,
When you sucked my sad soul out
Into that purgatory, your heart
Where bathed in the aura of your life
Coming back, it quickened my new birth.
O my messiah! I’ve seen in your eyes
That which many an eternally damned
Must have seen in the eyes of their saviour
O my Mercy, my hope, my rescue
I now breathe freely and forever eschew
My miseries, my pains, my tortures.
You’ve flooded my barren soul
With your overflowing beauty
To me the spring of life
Had never come but as autumn,
What was I but a dry, yellow, fallen leaf
And fate relished the sound of crunching
Which it’s wayward feet produced
I had long bid farewell to hope
Whose face to me was always veiled
Never clearly revealed.
Accepting all as inevitable
Inescapable, infinitely so,
I had been wooing pain.
And found a loyal spouse in him;
I loved pain and pain loved me
So I hoped – to get despair in return,
And loved - to get loathed,
But you’ve revived this wretch!
Your love has challenged my pain to a duel.
You’ve won, I bet
How will I ever forget
The first kiss you gave me,

My miseries, my pains, my tortures.
